Ronald McDonald House (September 7-13, 2008)

Every year Address for Success and fellow GLRIC (Great Lakes Regional IAHSP Chapter) ASP Stagers choose a charitable project during World Wide Staging Week.  This year the GLRIC has chosen the Ronald McDonald House for the second year in a row.  Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for sick children and their families at only $10 a night while undergoing treatment at Children's Hospital in Detroit, which is just next door. The house has over 25 rooms available, an equipped kitchen, living areas, dining areas, playroom, excercise room and an outdoor garden and play area. Parents are able to get the support of other parents and children can play without feeling uncomfortable. The facility helps avoid long drives to and from the hospital during their treatment.  There are many generous donors this year and the GLRIC has taken its profits from this years Parade of Staged Homes and is donating it towards the project which is over $3000.

This year's project will consist of completely remodelling one bedroom, installing ceramic tile in the entrance hallway as well as adding functional conference room furnishings for the initial meetings with families.  Keep checking below for our
work-in-progress photos.

Lighthouse Community Devlopment
July 2008

The Lighthouse of Oakland County provides safe and suitable housing for low income families in Oakland County. Address for Success and the GLRIC staged in Pontiac Michigan both a 2 bedroom apartment in the new Beacon Square Complex as well as a 3 bedroom Townhome unit at the Beacon Townhomes.  All furniture and accessories were provided on loan from the Furniture Bank of Southeast Michigan which provides gently used items to low income families, free of charge. The project was done to show potential families how they could best utilize the space using attractive furnishings available to them.
It was a great success and both places rented out immediately!

                            Cortlyn's Room (November 2007)

Cortlyn is a 6 year old girl we met at Children's Hospital.  Address for Success with the GLRIC gave her room a make-over. The focus as Stagers was to make the room function for her needs but also be loved by Cortlyn.  We decided to bring in her favorite colors & pop star as well as a new desk, chest & bookshelf to match.  We also provided storage cubes to hide medical supplies.  Her positive attitude was a great inspiration to us and we had so much fun getting to know her.
